2019 Syrah
Checking in from the Glenrose Vineyard, the elevation is high looking down on all of Paso Robles. The terrain is steep and rugged and on a narrow out cropping lies two rows of Syrah Clone 99. The jagged rocks exposed from the carved terracing and crushed white powder develop struggling vines pushing for everything into the fruit they bear. Embarking on a wine generous amounts of depth and complexity homaging the vines that have sacrificed another year. Fermented partially with whole cluster in tact, the smaller vats are more appropriate for that. In small batches one step at a time, with feet trodding on grapes they turn to wine. Raised nearly 1000 days in barrel, there is no controlling the beast. It’s no secret there is a love affair going on here with Syrah, and this clone and site excels at it. Extremely small production and released only to Country Club Members.
